Hill walkers and fell runners have always appreciated the sight of the many stone cairns which act as waymarkers on Britain's mountains and fells.They are continually maintained by each person passing, with each contributing a single piece of rock to the cairn.
We believe this can be an analogy for well written software where a combination of teamwork and many small components can be combined to produce an elegant and understandable system, which is then maintained and improved over it's lifetime
